BALMAIN!….With a blend of bargains

This post was suposed to be uploaded on Thursday however, just like most of you I was busy trying to access the H&M website; to purchase at least one item from the Balmain collection.

After one hour or so, I gave up as the website kept crashing.

The night before, I perused through the site to see which garments will be for sale. I must say, I am not a huge fan of Balmain so I opted for a necklace and possibly a bracelet. As I browsed through the slides I noticed the prices weren’t what I thought they would be. I mean, I know it’s Balmain and all but its BALMAIN X H&M!….so I was expecting the numbers on the tags to be slightly lower.

Lucky are those who queued up from 5am outside the stores and for the rest of you who managed to access the store virtually. And for those of you who didn’t (such as myself), don’t loose hope! H&M are bound to collaborate with another high end designer in the near future. Just start writing a shopping plan or strategy from now! lol!

I decided to put some looks together, including some of the pieces from this limited collection. Most of the garments I used in my lookbooks were paired with the predictable knee high boots or styled exactly the same way the celebs adorned them. The title of this post depicts a blend of affordable pieces, combined with the Balmain collection however, my images say otherwise. Just to stick to the image of high fashion I decided to include other luxury fashion products however, the links which will be included in this post will redirect you to affordable products with a similar look to those high fashion products pictured.

Although I’m not a huge fan of the brand, I must admit, the detail on this dress grew on me pretty quickly. It reminds me of an Alexander McQueen design. I have seen this dress styled with an oversize waist belt and knee high boots. I opted for the basic court heel, a black suede clutch bag and vintage style earrings. The fabric of the bag fused well with the fabric of the dress. In addition to that, the style of the dress contains a maximum amount of detail. Therefore, I felt that adding a belt and knee high boots will draw attention away from the dress and look way too ‘over the top.’

This look is a little more detailed than the previous however, using your imagination you can picture how minimal the entire outfit is. As it’s A/W season, this whole outfit is perfect for the weather and for various occasions too. Another garment I gave a thumbs up to from the collection, which is the jacket . It has an elegant, classy yet military style to it, which can be styled in various ways.

This has to be my favourite look! Flared bottoms come and go almost every season although this year, the trend has remained consistent throughout. During Spring/Summer, the 70’s look became a huge trend which a majority of people happily adapted to. I’m glad to see the trend slide into the Autumn/Winter season. Paired with a pair of black pointed boots and the Balmain oversize blazer, this outfit is ideal for a night out on the town, a dinner date or even a fashion event.

Here is the final look which includes the colour block dress from the Balmain x H&M collection. I find this dress easy to pair with different footwear and accessories. My advice would be, to keep it extremely minimal with the accessories as again, this garment speaks high volumes. The high neck detail means you don’t need to add a necklace although an oversize gold cuff on each wrist could add a style of uniqueness to your look. Matched with a pair of lace up pointed heels, open toe heels or basic black court heels, this look is again ideal for  a night out on the town or maybe even a special occasion such as a wedding or engagement party.
